Meet the Founder & Author: Khamra Echols

My name is Khamra Echols, and I’m the founder and author behind Look Who’s Outdoors. I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, and my love for the outdoors began in the countryside of Mexia,Texas. I spent much of my childhood there surrounded by fresh air, open land, and wide skies, finding freedom, peace, and joy in nature’s simple offerings. My family has always appreciated the outdoors, and one of my most cherished bonds is the one I share with my dad through our shared love of horses. Over the past 15+ years, we’ve raised and cared for a total of 10 horses, each holding a special place in my heart.

Before fully stepping into entrepreneurship, I dedicated over a decade of my life to education. I served as a public school teacher in the Dallas Independent School District for 13 years and also coached girls' basketball for 10 years.

Look Who’s Outdoors was born out of that passion. It’s a digital space where people can come together to celebrate their outdoor lifestyle whether that’s through trail riding, camping, rodeos, car racing, mudding, biking, or simply taking in the beauty of the world around them. I created this platform because I realized there wasn’t one central place where outdoor enthusiasts could connect, collaborate, and share their adventures. The outdoors isn’t just something I enjoy it’s where I feel most alive, most connected to my faith, and most in tune with the world. Nature has a way of speaking to us, reminding us that life is present all around if we take the time to see it.

At 35, I’m living proof that it’s never too late to rediscover parts of yourself and follow the path that brings you joy. As a former educator turned entrepreneur, I’m committed to showing others especially women and young people that outdoor living is for all of us. I hope this book and the Look Who’s Outdoors community inspire you to step outside, breathe deep, and embrace the unforgettable experiences waiting for you just beyond your front door.

This book is more than just a collection of outdoor adventures; it’s a tribute to the people, places, and personal moments that unfold when we step into nature. Whether you're riding horses, trail walking, camping, or just sitting under a wide open sky, the outdoors has a way of grounding us and reconnecting us with what matters most.

Born out of my own love for outdoor living, Look Who’s Outdoors began as a media platform where people could share their experiences, connect over common passions, and be reminded of the healing power of nature. Growing up between Dallas and the quiet country landscapes of Mexia, Texas, I developed a deep appreciation for the land for open spaces, for the bond between humans and animals, and for the peace that comes when you’re truly present. My father and I have shared over 15 years of memories raising horses, and it’s that connection to the earth and each other that continues to shape my life.

This book was created for people like me people who may have started in one direction, only to rediscover themselves in the stillness of the woods, the rhythm of a trail ride, or the adrenaline of outdoor adventure.

It’s for the ones who’ve always known the outdoors was home, and for those who are just now answering its call. My hope is that these pages inspire you to explore, to connect, and to share your own stories because Look Who’s Outdoors is not just my story. It’s all of ours.
